was born on JUL 28 1876 in Louisiana. She was buried in 1958 in LA. She died on JUL 11 1958 in Sulphur, Calcasieu, LA. There seems to be something special about grandmother's. This one was. Even though we were unable to see her very often, it was a time of excitmement to get to see her.

Oleta WATKINS was born on JUN 21 1903. Elizabeth Sonnier and I visited with Oleta on August 17, 1988, late in the afternoon until nearly dark. She said that Ardmore was born in 1913, when the railroad come through. Elkmont Springs is located on a nearby hill, where there are several springs. A pavillion stands as a landmark for travelers passing through.

She lost her 2nd husband Rev. John Bailey, about 5 months earlier. Oleta is a very lonely person. She talked a great deal about him and said that he was a good man. She feels very fortunate to have married two good men, both of which passed away. She wanted us to spend the night at her home, but we decided that we would not.

She and Eugene raised two adopted children, one of which was a Culps, Jeanne RIN 288 and RIN 216.

She was married to Noah Eugene (Gene) CULPS on JUN 30 1934 in Cullman, AL. Children were: Betty CULPS (Adopted), Jeanne See Notes CULPS Adopted .

Brooksie Nell WHITFIELD

was born on AUG 7 1925 in Bartlett, Bell Co., TX. She died on APR 22 1992 in Pasadena, Harris, TX, At home. She was buried on APR 25 1992 in Bartlett, Bell, TX. Notes Brooksie passed away Wednesday evening at 6:00 o'clock p.m. at home, 234 Delta St., Pasadena, TX 77502. Sons, David and Jim and sister Doris were with her. David said that she was breathing heavy, like grandad Culps, so knew the end was near. He told Doris that he was going to lay down for a while and wait for Jim. She came to David and said, "I think she's gone". David rushed to her side and took her arm and felt for a pulse. He found it but said that it wass very erratic. By this time Jim arrived. He took her other arm and they held both arms until she died.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Hale at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 25, 1992 at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel at 2202 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, Texas 77502. (Burke & Pasadena Blvd). After these service she will be taken to Bartlett, TX. for burial. Rev. Hale will officiate for the 4:30 p.m. interment. Parents: Homer Dow WHITFIELD and Lola Bell WHITE.

She was married to Wallace Douglas CULPS on FEB 19 1950 in Keys Valley, Bell Co., TX. She was divorced from Wallace Douglas CULPS on NOV 2 1976 in Houston. Children were: Wallace David CULPS, James Douglas (Jim) CULPS.
