He fought in the Civil War, and met his wife while in the service. She was a a nurse and widowed with 3 small children. This information came from my Aunt Ruth (Lester Culps).

Information from Julia Culps Smith says only, that he fought in the War between the States, returned home and lived in Giles Co., TN.

Rosa (Culps) Wright said that her mother remembered hearing that one of Henry's brothers was Mayor of Pulaski. When she wrote to Giles Co. they sent her a list of office holders. He was Recorder, not Mayor, in 1901. That brother was Robert Lewis Culps.

This was my great grandfather.

Sept. 29, 1990- I aquired his Bible. All information pertaining to his children have been appropriately entered under each individual child. One page in his Bible shows the following: 632 page book 7- Father bought Oct 9th 1903 66 ft wide 165 ft deep Deed recorded Oct 9th 1903 Bought from W.I. Rainey & wife

Moved to Pulaski 1888 Went to L.A 1915 (Los Angeles?) Is this a reference to his son Robert O. Culps, who moved to Los Angeles? Parents: William Augustis (Arthur) CULPS and Ann Elizabeth (Eliza) KING.

bullet Robert O. CULPS was born on SEP 20 1865 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I met (great) uncle Robert and aunt Alice during WW II, while stationed at March Field Air Force Base near Riverside. Uncle Robert lived in the Los Angeles area. Mary Strange was living with them at the time. I remember that she rode me hard about my Texas accent.

Mary Sarah Culps was the daughter of Beaulah Viola Culps and James E. Patton. After her divorce from Mr. Strange she moved in with uncle Robert. Parents: Robert Lewis CULPS and Mary Jane BOYD McClinton.

He was married to Alice COLE on MAY 31 1903. Children were: Robert Boyd CULPS , Sue Mae CULPS.

bullet Roy Vester CULPS Photo was born on AUG 7 1904 in Ft.Worth, Tarrant Co., TX. He was buried in 1974. He died on NOV 10 1974 in El Monte, California. I remember him because of his love to fish. My brother, Burnie and I spent time with uncle Roy and aunt Catherine each summer at their Lake Worth cottage. He taught us to fish for carp, perch and catfish. Also the merits of a trot-line. He showed us how to thread a hook with a slip proof knot, and to make dough-bait with a colorful smell.

Aunt Catherine died after we were grown. Uncle Roy later remarried and moved to California about the time that his brother Carl moved there.

Uncle Roy had a severe battle with emphysema. It eventually took his life. Parents: George Darr CULPS and Effie May HALL.

He was married to Catherine JENKINS in 1927 in Texas.

He was married to Faye Stevens HUKLE in MAR 1948.
