Mr. De la Freydiere, Captain in the Carignan Regiment, landed at Quebec with
his company of soldiers August 17th 1665. The Carignan Regiment had been sent
to Quebec to fight the Iroquois. Among his soldiers was Jean Delpesches or Dalpe
dit Parisot aged seventeen, having been born in 1648. His company was camped
at Montreal during the winter of 1665-1666, we can assume that Jean Dalpe stayed

at the beginning of 1666.
The war being over the Carignan Regiment was discharged in 1668 and a good many
soldiers and officers stayed in Canada to become settlers, Jean Dalpe was among
them. Jean appears to have lived at Repentigny were he had a son baptized in
1675, later moving to Pointe-aux-Trembles where he permanently settled.
Jean Dalpe who had come to Canada to fight the Iroquois died a victim of their
crualty. On July 2nd 1690 at the Pointe-aux-Trembles near the Crou Coulee that
the ancestor Dalpe was massacred in a heroical combat with eleven of his companions.
A Cairn erected near Bout de l'Ile road remembers this historical deed. The
