I have always been interested in history, and always enjoyed visiting and visits from relatives when I was young. Life caught up with me and I lost track of many of my family members, but expanded that family significantly when I married into the Courvisiers. That family had a tradition of keeping in touch with eachother, primarily via a round-robin family news letter and family reunions.

I hope to develop as many branches of this tree as possible, and as far as possible. My primary focuses at the beginning will be DeVries and DeKoekkoek on my side, and Courvisier and Baker on my wife's side. I have offered to capture the branches from any relative on either side who wishes to share it with me. Most of our ancestors started as farmers, which usually meant rather large families, in many cases more than 10 children. In just a few days I have recorded 7 generations and over 100 names. I have the bug, and hope to get several other family members directly involded in this activity in the near future.

The primary sources of the initial tree I developed were a 300 page book, written by Lydia Beard, "Courvisiers of West Texas", providing extensive details of my wife's family on her father's side, and a small 60 page book written by Klass DeVries, my Great Grandfather, "Thirty-eight Years in America", providing significant details of my ancestry on my father's side.
