Jonathan Beebe, the son of Samuel and Mary Keenery Beebe of New London was born about 1674. He was 87 years of age at death. He was the first settler in Millington society and settled on the west side of Long Pond of lake in year 1704. Probably that he went to Colchester with some of early New London settlers in that town and was favorably impressed with lands on Long Pond and decided to settle there within limits of Haddam East. He was one of the petitoners for Millington society, but was no prominent in town or church affairs. Joanthan ear-mark for cattle was recorded at New London, August 9, 1696. He settled at Milington, CT, near the northeast corner of Long Pond, in East Haddam, coming from New London, as early as 1704, after the first settlement and was a man of consequence in the town. He also owned land in Colchester, for in 1710 at a town meeting of Colchester is was "further granted to J. Beebe to remove the bounds of his farm further nortward so as to bring the part into Colchester bounds." He was married to Bridgett Brockway on Apr 23 1700 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut.
