Under First Baptist church of Canton: on 22nd June, 1817, a council was called for organizing a church. Among 14 delegates that presented themselves for membership was listed a Polly Ames.

I also received an e-mail from someone w/whom I have been working on those Ames from Mass>VT>Pennsylvania>Ill - Fred Fettinger at the Martin's General Store Museum web site where he has posted what we have gathered on the Eames/Ames family and he said he has heard from Henry's desc. but they could not connect to the Ames we have, either. Have you been in contact w/Fred?

As I read your reply to my query, I had a thought - something new to me was that in connection to Henry you made mention of Boxford, Massachusetts - which then makes me think he was of a different Ames line altogether - what little I have of that Ames line it may be Henry came from the immigrant Robert Eames from England who came to Boxford in 1660; I may have more on him somewhere in this Ames folder I am trying to work on/weed out again in my quest for more ? clues to my elusive Thomas Ames.

The Thomas Eames/Ames family connected to Chester Chandler Ames and all the rest of them in Lake county came from Dedham/area & Framingham, Mass. Then on to VT, Penn., Illinois.

Somehow or other, maybe both Ames families began to intermarry or ??? which is how Henry showed up in Lake County ???? If there has been any connection to St Lawrence County in New York with those Ames I have been working with, I have not found it - on occasion Steuben County comes into the picture. So - anyway, this may explain why Henry has been such an elusive character - two different Eames/Ames immigrant families?

Sybil Eggleston b. California 1784, d. 27 May 1843, Potsdam married Benjamin Bailey on 18 Jul 1807. Benjamin (b. California 1761 Chesterfield, Massachusetts d. 04 Feb 1849) was first married to Keziah Holbrook who died 09 Jun 1807 Potsdam. Children of Keziah and Benjamin were 1)Benjamin Jr, 2)Joseph R. and 3)Levi. Children of Sybil and Benjamin were 1) Olive (b. 28 Apr 1808 Potsdam; d. 18 Sep 1865 West Potsdam, m. Charles Dart); 2) Eliza M (b. 21 Mar 1817 Potsdam; d. 09 Jul 1846 Potsdam; m. William K. Rich); Moses (b. 14 Jul 1815 Potsdam; m. Rhonda M.)
