Mrs. Aceneath Greer, widow of the late John S. Ogden, died suddenly Sunday morning about 7 o'clock at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Angus Terwilliger, corner of West Main and Henry streets.
Mrs. Ogden had been ill with grip for the past fortnight. Sunday morning her daughter heard her fall and on going to her room found her lying on the floor in an unconscious state.
The deceased was a very large woman and Mrs. Terwilliger after summoning the other members of the family, placed her mother on the bed and summoned Dr. Struble. After his arrival she breathed a few times and died.
Death was due to apoplexy, to which she had succumbed just as she arose from her bed to dress.
Mrs. Ogden was born at Mapledale, near this city, 78 years ago. She was married Nov. 18, 1838, to Mr. Ogden, who died Nov. 20, 1894, as a result of injuries.
Ten children were born to this union, seven sons and three daughters, three of whom survive: Margaret, wife of Angus Terwilliger, with whom she resided, and John W. and Sylvanus Greer Ogden, of this city.
She is also survived by two brothers, Sylvanus Greer, of this city, and Alpheus Greer, of Howells; also by one sister, Mrs. Susan Kirk, of Warwick.
Mrs. Ogden was a consistent member of St. Paul's M.E. Church.

Funeral Tuesday afternoon from the residence of her son-in-law, Angus Terwilliger, corner West Main and Henry streets, at 2:20 p.m.

Author, school leader Ogden dies

MIDDLETOWN - Lucile Greenleaf Gumaer Ogden of Pilgrims Corner Road, Middletown, an 86-year area resident, died Friday, May 11 at Horton Memorial Hospital, Middletown. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Chauncey I. and Alma Peterson Gumaer, she was born June 29, 1903 in Denver, Colo. She was the widow of George T. Ogden.
Mrs. Ogden was the proprietor and instructor of the Lucile Gumaer Ogden School of Dancing in Middletown for 30 years. She was also the author of "The Journal of the Records of Peter E. Gumaer 1771-1869," which is a book about her great grandfather, a notable figure in the history of Orange County.
For a number of years Mrs. Ogden served as a trustee of the former Pilgrim Grammer School near Howells. She actively promoted the establishment of the Minisink Valley Central School.
Mrs. Ogden was a member of the First Congregational Church, Middletown; the Huguenot Historical Society, New Paltz; the Hasbrouck Family Association; the Deyo Family Association, the Minisink Valley Historical Society; and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Antoinette Hait, widow of Mr. Gilbert B. Ogden, died Sunday night at 12:30, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Thomas Nelson, Scotchtown. Death was due to paralysis and a complication of disease. Her age was 62 years.
Deceased was born near Burlingham, Sullivan county, and 30 years of her married life was spent at New Vernon, where her husband died in 1871. She has resided with her daughter about a year.
Five children survive: Mary E., wife of Thomas Nelson, Madison Ogden, and Mrs. Ella, wife of George E. Miles, all of Scotchtown, Casper C. Ogden, of Indiana, and Henry H. Ogden, of Mount Hope, also one sister, Mrs. Nancy, wife of Ezekial Cudney, of Mountaindale.
Mr. Ogden was a well known veteran of the late war.
Mrs. Ogden was a Presbyterian by faith and a woman much respected in the community.
The funeral occurs Wednesday at 10 o'clock at Scotchtown, with burial at New Vernon.

Mr. Halcott was a machinist for the Ontario & Western Railroad, and a member of Middletown Lodge, B.P.O.E.
Besides his wife he is survived by a sister, Eva, wife of T. E. Brochu at Middletown, and a brother, W. O. Halcott of Brooklyn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 at the home with the Rev. Charles A. Platt, officiating. Interment will be in Scotchtown cemetery. Elks services will be conducted tomorrow night at 7:30. Parents: John G. Halcott and Sarah Hall.
