Mrs. Cornelia Jane Ogden, widow of the late Jonathan Ogden, of this village, died last evening at about 10 o'clock, at the house of her son-in-law, Mr G. B. Fuller, of the hat firm of Fuller Brothers, on West Main street. The lady had been ill for some months with gastric fever, and her life had been prolonged for weeks only by the care that was given her. She was a great sufferer, but bore her affliction with a quiet resignation. Mrs. Ogden was the daughter of the late Stephen Sayer, of the town of Wallkill. Mr. Wm. H. Sayer, a farmer residing near Otisville in the town of Mount Hope, is her brother. Mrs. Carpenter, widow of the late Nathan Carpenter, and the wife of Mr. Phillip Knox, of Pennsylvania, are her sisters. Her husband, who was a well known resident here, died a number of years ago. She leaves four married daughters. They are Flora, wife of E. M. Madden, Jr.; Virginia, wife of G. B. Fuller; Jane, wife of E. M. Norton, all of this village; and Frank, wife of Charles Palmer, of Port Jervis, and Ruth, who was the wife of the late Ira Webb, of Ellenville.
Mrs. Ogden was a devout member of Grace Episcopal Church, and an estimable lady, whose death will be sadly regretted by a large circle of friends. She was in her fifty-fifth year.
The funeral will be held in Grace Episcopal Church on Sunday afternoon at half-past two o'clock. Rev. Alex. Capron, of Adrian, Mich., formerly rector of Grace Church and the pastor of the deceased lady, has been telegraphed for to come and conduct the funeral. He will undoubtedly be present.
