Aunt Sis Livick was Susan Spitler, grandmother's sister. She married Alex Livick. They had two children but they died without heirs.

Aunt Sis Livick was quite a character and as a girl helped her father with the livestock. It was her task to keep them in the proper fields and so on. They had an old sow that had learned to lift the gates, so Aunt Sis took the knife off the cutting box. This was a long-shaped box that had a very sharp knife one end to cut green corn with. Aunt Sis put the knife on the bottom of the barnyard gate. The old hog came and lifted the date and cut her old snout off.

Aunt Sis' father had a second wife whom Aunt Sis disliked very much. The day they were married Aunt Sis took her father's picture out and shot it with the rifle. It was one of those enlarged pictures they used to have on an easel in the old homes. She would walk miles even though she was a very small person and lame. She would come to visit in our home and at night would tell ghost and witch stories. All the children would be afraid to go to bed, but we wouldn't have missed hearing them for anything. We would ask Mother if the stories were true and she would assure us they were just old tales, but Aunt Sis believed them.

One of our favorite games was to play Aunt Sis. Ruth would be Aunt Sis and come limping in and shake hands and say, "Howdy Lillie. How you come on?" Then she would say "Howdy Milt. How you come on?" We would take the part of different members of the family. We thought it was great fun.

From Rachel Joseph's notes:

I do not know Jacob Spitlar's father's name but he married an Irish girl, her name unknown to us. She came from Ireland with others who were to bind themselves out to farmers or anyone who would hire them and would work until their passage was paid. The young women would marry if the men would pay their passage. My father and Aunt Annie told me that she never told anyone of her past or anything about her people.
