Aunt Sis Livick was Susan Spitler, grandmother's sister. She married Alex Livick. They had two children but they died without heirs.

Aunt Sis Livick was quite a character and as a girl helped her father with the livestock. It was her task to keep them in the proper fields and so on. They had an old sow that had learned to lift the gates, so Aunt Sis took the knife off the cutting box. This was a long-shaped box that had a very sharp knife one end to cut green corn with. Aunt Sis put the knife on the bottom of the barnyard gate. The old hog came and lifted the date and cut her old snout off.

Aunt Sis' father had a second wife whom Aunt Sis disliked very much. The day they were married Aunt Sis took her father's picture out and shot it with the rifle. It was one of those enlarged pictures they used to have on an easel in the old homes. She would walk miles even though she was a very small person and lame. She would come to visit in our home and at night would tell ghost and witch stories. All the children would be afraid to go to bed, but we wouldn't have missed hearing them for anything. We would ask Mother if the stories were true and she would assure us they were just old tales, but Aunt Sis believed them.

One of our favorite games was to play Aunt Sis. Ruth would be Aunt Sis and come limping in and shake hands and say, "Howdy Lillie. How you come on?" Then she would say "Howdy Milt. How you come on?" We would take the part of different members of the family. We thought it was great fun.

From Rachel Joseph's notes:

I do not know Jacob Spitlar's father's name but he married an Irish girl, her name unknown to us. She came from Ireland with others who were to bind themselves out to farmers or anyone who would hire them and would work until their passage was paid. The young women would marry if the men would pay their passage. My father and Aunt Annie told me that she never told anyone of her past or anything about her people. An account of his death and obituary appeared in the Middletown Times Herald Newspaper, Monday, April 9, 1956 issue:

Middletown Man Fatally Burned in Flash Kitchen Fire

Almeron Stacey, 76, a retired plumber's helper, was fatally burned in a flash fire in the kitchen of his three-room apartment at 16 Linden avenue yesterday morning. Mr. Stacey's body was found on the floor in front of the kitchen stove by firemen summoned to the three-story house by a general alarm shortly after nine a.m. Fire Chief G. Richard Truex said Mr. Stacey was apparently working on a faulty kerosene oil stove in his kitchen when the fire broke out. The elderly man had moved to the apartment on the top floor of the three-story dwelling Monday from 21 Mill street, fire officials said. The fire was confined to the kitchen of the six-family apartment house. Mr. Stacey's clothing was ignited by the blaze, firemen said. He was unable to escape from the room: Coroner Kenneth March of Port Jervis issued a verdict of accidental death.
Smoke damage was reported in the third floor apartment of Mrs. Mable Moul and water damage in the apartment of Harry Georgelos on the second floor and Preston Moul, Mrs. Moul's son, on the first floor. Mr. Moul discovered the fire about nine o'clock while shoveling snow from the sidewalk outside the Linden avenue residence.
Mr. Moul said he noticed smoke coming from the top floor apartment windows. While Mr. Moul and Vincent Graziano, also an occupant of the building, went to the top floor, Mr. Moul's wife, went to the Phoenix Engine Company truck house around the corner on John street. W. Norton Madigan, fireman on duty at the truck house, notified Central firehouse and a general alarm was sounded at 9:08 a.m. Six fire units responded. Mr. Moul and Mr. Graziano were unable to enter the kitchen to rescue Mr. Stacey. Flames and intense heat forced the two men to remain in the hallway.
Mr. Stacey was pronounced dead by Dr. Samuel W. Mills, Jr. The body was removed to the Hasbrouck Funeral Home.
Mr. Stacey's death was the second in Orange County since Mar. 25 when Abraham Lott, 76, was fatally burned as he was pouring kerosene on a wood fire in a kitchen stove at his home, 103 West Main street, Port Jervis.
