Funeral of Mrs. Emmeline C. Ogden is Held

On Saturday morning, November 22, at 4:30 at the home of her son, Frank T. Ogden, in Owego, the immortal spirit of Mrs. Emmeline Clark Ogden joined that innumerable company who have passed to their reward. She had been a great sufferer for the past few years, but patiently awaited the end, ever showing rare Christian courage and faith. Her 83 years are fittingly represented by the full sheaf.
Born on February 8, 1841 in the town of Greenville, the daughter of Chauncey Clark and his wife, Angeline Slauson, she grew to you womanhood amidst pure and Christian surroundings, early uniting with the church. On September 8, 1861, she was united in marriage to George T. Ogden and made her home on the Ogden farm. She brought her church letter to the First Congregational Church of this city and for nearly 66 years had been a most faithful and devoted member.
She is survived by four children: A. C. Ogden, Charlotte O. Whitney, Genevieve Blanch Ogden and Frank T. Ogden. Four years ago another son, Fred D. Ogden, died. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral service was held today at 1:30 at the home of her son, A. C. Ogden, and the burial was in Hillside cemetery, conducted by her pastor, rev. William F. Kettle, of the First Congregational Church, her grandsons acting as pallbearers.

Wilson-Clark

A happy home wedding took place last night at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Clark on Golden Hill Ave., this village, when their youngest daughter, Grace L., was married to Mr. Jerome W. Wilson. The ceremony was performed at 8:30 o'clock by Rev. S. F. White, pastor of the M. E. Church. The home was filled with friends of the bride and groom, and after the marriage ceremony and congratulations, the company partook of a bountiful wedding dinner, followed by dancing.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson left Goshen at 11 o'clock on train No. 14 for New York and other points. They are both estimable young people of this village and their numerous friends wish them a happy and prosperous future.

Goshen, New York June 28, 1904

Mrs. Jerome Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Clark, of Goshen died at noon, Friday, in a hospital in Hartford, Conn., where she had undergone a surgical operation. The remains were brought to Goshen Sunday night and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at the home of her parents on West Main Street. The interment was at Phillipsburgh.
Mrs. Wilson’s maiden name was Grace Clark and she was born at Goshen 29 years ago and lived here until two years ago when she removed with her husband and children to Hartford. She is survived by her husband and her two daughters, Ella, aged five years, and Viola, aged five months; also by her parents, three brothers, David and Amos Clark, of Goshen, and Frank, of Paterson, and two sisters, Mrs. Dell Knapp, of Goshen, and Mrs. George B. Hewitt, of Middletown. Parents: Jeremiah Benjamin Clark and Harriet C. Ogden.

She was married to Jerome Walter Wilson on 29 Mar 1897 in Goshen, New York.(99) Children were: Ella Mae Wilson, Viola Lillian Wilson.

Clark worked as a butcher in Wawayanda, N.Y. until the 1870's. By 1880, he had relocated to Goshen, N.Y. working as a fisherman while his father was employed as a Dealer in fish. His stint as a fisherman was short as he became a butcher once again establishing a meat market at 85 West Main St., Goshen.

Obituary from 'The Independent Republican':

Jeremiah B. Clark died at his home on Golden Hill avenue, Goshen at 5:20 o'clock Thursday afternoon, after an illness of several months, aged 65 years.
Mr. Clark had conducted a meat market in Goshen for nineteen years, and two years ago last April disposed of the business to his son, David P. Clark. During his long business career he had been very successful and won the respect of all who did business with him by his honest and upright methods.
Deceased is survived by his wife and five children: David P., Amos R., Mrs. Adelbert Knapp, of Goshen; Mrs. George Hewitt and Frank E. Clark, of Middletown; also by five brothers and four sisters. They are Edward and Howell, of Johnson; William, of Middletown; B. R. Clark, of Goshen; Emmet, of Paterson; Mrs. Horace Space, of Paterson, and Mrs. William Frazier, who is a resident of the state of Washington. Seventeen grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon from his late home, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Moser, pastor of the Methodist Church, will conduct the service, and the remains will be interred in Pittsburgh Cemetery.

It is documented in Dr. Robert Shaw's record book that William P. Clark and Benjamin B. Clark were brothers dated September 1840. Benjamin B. Clark and Wm. P. Clark had an account that was paid by 'your brother Wm. P. Clark'.

An advertisement in the 'Independent Republican' March 26, 1841:
NEW LIME--Just burned, a kiln of New Lime, of excellent quality, at his residence, one mile east of GardnersVille, and three miles south of Ridgebury.

On March 13, 1875, William P. Clark married a widow, Sarah A. DeHart from Goshen, NY. Sarah Ann DeHart was the widow of William DeHart. The witnesses to the marriage were William Judson and Bertha Judson.

Sudden Death.
(From our Goshen Correspondent)
Mr. Wm. P. Clark, aged 74, fell dead on the sidewalk in front of his residence, near Ryerson's Bridge in Goshen, Saturday morning. He had just stepped down out of his wagon, and was under no excitement. It is supposed heart disease was the cause of his death. He has had a fish and vegetable market on Greenwich St. He formerly resided for many years in the town of Wawayanda. Howell Clark, employed by the O. and W., in Middletown, is a son.

Sudden Deaths.
Wm. P. Clark, an old and respected citizen of Goshen, dropped dead from heart disease Saturday morning. He had been down town and was apparently in good health. When he returned home he fell dead. The funeral was held to-day at Ridgebury. Deceased was the father of Howell R. Clark, of this village.
