Buried near Vera Chambless and Myrle Smith Hankins Randle. *THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, November 13, 1980. 'Dolphus A. Chambless, 73, of 635 E. Austin, died Nov. 10 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. James E. Barnes, pastor of Seventh Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. Mr. Chambless was born in Hope, Ark. on July 22, 1907, son of Thomas D. Chambless and Minnie Richardson Chambless. He attended public schools in Hope and moved to Paris in 1927. He married Miss Vera Bills in 1931 in Hugo, Okla.; she preceded him in death on May 25, 1977. Mr. Chambless was a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church. He was a carpenter in the Paris area for several years and was later employed as a taxi driver for 21 years before retiring. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Tolbert Nichols of allen; a son, Clark E. Chambless of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. Maudie Reed of Shelbyville; Mrs. Lula Bea Moreland of Fort Smith, Ark. and Mrs. Hattie Mae Love of Wichita Falls; for brothers, Bob Chambless of Richardson, Albert Chambless of Dallas, Tommy Chambless of Lubbock and Floyd Chambless of West Texas; and five grandchildren. a son, Jerry Chambless, also preceded him in death in 1953.'
