pg. 1121
Denissen also adds that John Desbuttes dit St. Martin obtained from the
French government a grant of land of 2 x 40arpents on 1 Apr. 1750 whichis now
called the Cass Farm on private claim 55. On this farm was built the
"Government House" which is the same building erected by Cadillac in 1703 for
the Huron chief on a little eminence which overlooks their village on the
Canada shore. This eminence means the bill between the Savoyard and the
Detroit Rivers. The family Debuttes dit St. Martin being popular interpreters
of the Huron Language and very friendly to the Hurons had no difficulty to
have their chief cede to them his rights to that building. It was 40 feet
long and 24 feet wide and built of oak. It was known later on as the Cass
House it being the residence of General Cass. The house was demolished in
1882. The St. Martin farm passed from the father to his son James who married
Mary Ann Navarre. After his death when Dr. Anthon married into that family he
resiede there until his departure to New York. Later it became the property
of the Macombs.

Muskegon Co., Mi.1.
Notes for AGNES BOUCHER:
The baptismal record for Agnes' son Edmund or Edward is recorded at
Penetanguishene. The original document seems to have been altered, but hard
to tell on photocopy without seeing original document. It appears to have
been first written as Edward Bergeron, son of Alexander Bergeron and Agnes
Boucher. Then, after the name Bergeron and slightly above and to the right is
the name Vallee. Also below the line is added Edmund Vallee and where the
word Vallee appears this time is just past the fathers name and almost gives
the impression that HE is the Bergeron/Vallee; but I am more inclined to
think that it is meant to say that Edward is also known as EDMUND VALLEE. It
seems awfully coincidental to me that BOTH Edward Bergeron (Vallee) and our
Edmund Vallee were born on the same day and both had mother's named Agnes
Boucher.
Bap. record at Penetanguishene. for Agnes Boucher; bn. 23 Jan. 1873;
sponsored by Alesir?/ Alexir? Cadat and Marie Lafreniere
bap. 9 Mar. 1873
On the 1910 census for Michigan in Clark Township; Cedarville, Mackinaw Co.,
Mi.; Agnes appears as wife of Joseph Vallee using the name of Mary B.
(perhaps she was Mary Agnes Boucher?) or does the "B" stand for Bergeron?
It says Joseph born in Michigan and only child Edward and Mary B. bn.
Canada-French and also says that both Mary B. (Agnes) and Edward came to this
country in 1898. That's 2 years before Joseph claims to have come with his
family in June of 1900.
