The Charles A. Doswell III family of Norman, OK

About Our Family Research

I am still learning about genealogy on the Web and have just begun to collect information about my family tree. The name "Doswell" is much less common than "Boswell" and so it seems that most "Doswells" world-wide are probably related in some way. I know of Doswells in the U.K. I also know that a Doswell clan exists in Ft. Wayne, IN. The Doswell name is associated with pre-revolutionary immigrants to VA who became landed gentry there, but I have as yet no clue about possible connections to them. My great-grandfather, John Hawkins Doswell, came to the U.S. in 1851, first living in Wisconsin then settled in Ft. Wayne, IN. He had been associated with Kew Gardens in London prior to emigrating to the U.S. My mother's family is Swedish, with many of them arriving here near the turn of the 20th century. I have some photos and some other materials, including newspaper clippings and old letters.
