Includes NotesNotes for Francis Stanley Koziuk:
Baptism information: Rev. William Manka; Sponsors: Michael Nierdropa and Mary Ciupa.
Dad was a cooper in Brooklyn before he went to work for Sperry Gyroscope, Lake Success, Great Neck, NY. He was laid off after 27 years of service and then went to work for Aeroflex Labs., Inc. in Plainview, NY.
Dad served on the Grand Jury in Mineola, L.I., NY. He was active in the Union at Sperry Gyroscope, the Lake Success facility, Great Neck, L.I., NY. It was AFL-CIO Local 450. After Mom and Dad moved to FL, he was very active in the Inverness Highlands Civic Association and served as President. He served a term as President of the Citrus County Democrats during Wm. Clinton's first election. He received an invitation to the inauguration but couldn't attend. Dad also worked very hard for the AARP tax program, much to Mom's frustration!
I received the following from Cathy on the 4th anniversary of Dad's death:
"Mom,
I think about Grandpa (and Grandma) a lot. I think I have, through you, his desire to categorize and straighten the chaos of things. I want to do something with these matchbook covers, once I am finished with these exams. I want to analyze his system that he had. I would love to have all those memo pads that he would keep in his shirt pocket. He seemed to write everything down. I used to love sitting in his lap and playing with the multi-color ball point pens he had - some of them had 20 or 30 colors. I think I am beginning to laugh like Grandma - that crackly high, but throaty, giggle. I don't laugh that way all the time, just sometimes. I can see her looking up at me but down over the top of her glasses. She would have this frown because her eyes were adjusting from the close work that she was concentrating on. Just when I began to mistake this frown for irritation, she would let out that little giggle.
I do miss them very much.
I love you.
Cathy" 11/17/2000 Catherine Margaret Bell
