      8. Ambrose Harrison Duncan, born Bet. 1745 - 1750; died 1828 in Granville County N.C.. He was the son of Unknown and Mary. He married 9. Martha Slaughter.

      9. Martha Slaughter, died 1846. She was the daughter of Jacob L, Slaughter and Unknown.

Notes for Ambrose Harrison Duncan:
In 1766 Pittsylvania County Virgina , Ambrose Harrison Duncan applied for a land patent. The same month July 1766 a Peter, John, and also a William Duncan were applying for land patents. The next time Ambrose Harrison Duncan names appears is in Granville County N. C. In 1768 a tax list in Granville County list Mary Duncan (widow) with William, and Ambrose Harrison Duncan on the same tax list is also John and Peter Duncan.

In April 1803 Jacob Slaughter gave Charles B. Duncan, "grandson and son of Ambrose Harrison Duncan," 80 acres of land in Granville County (see Granville County Deed book R, page 322).

  iv.   Sterling H Duncan, born 1802 in Granville County N.C; married Mary Slaughter 09 Mar 1854 in Granville County N.C; born Bet. 1810 - 1813.
  Notes for Sterling H Duncan:
Sterling H. Duncan married his first cousin Mary Slaughter (born about 1810 or 1813). daughter of Charlotte (Scruggs) and Issac Slaughter. Another bit of information is that Sterling owned a grist mill, I ran across a piece of information that said a death notice was posted at Sterling Duncan grist mill. In the old days it was common practice to post notices in public places of death in the community

  Notes for Rebecca Duncan:
Rebecca Duncan died in 1855 leaving a will dated 12/1/1849 proved February 1856 and recorded in Granville County will book 20, page 54. She did not marry.

  viii.   Patsy Duncan, born 05 Jun 1805 in Granville County N.C.; died 10 Mar 1870; married Martin Slaughter 28 Feb 1826 in Granville County N.C; born Bet. 1792 - 1795 in Granville County N.C.; died 24 Dec 1869.

Martha Duncan was the last living Child of Ambrose Harrison Duncan when she died sometime in the 1880's David Duncan prepared a list of her descendents to dispose of her estates. Much of this genealogy is prepare as a result of his work.
