bullet John WITHERS Capt died about 29 Aug 1698 in Stafford County, VA. He was born in Lancaster, England. Will dated 29 August 1698, conveyed property to his daughter Sarah for her life and after he demise to his cousin William WITHERS and his male heirs, and for default of such issue to Mr Thomas WITHERS of Lancaster, England. This entailement created such havoc that the Virginia Legislature had to pass a special act in 1758 to straighten out the ownership of the original property. {Ref:"Va. Hist. Mag", vol.6, p.309}
