He died on 7 Oct 1875 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV. Joel Peregoy was born in MD. He married Eveline/Elvira before 1832, probably in Berkeley Co., Wv/Va since his wife was born in WV about 1808. His mother was of foreign birth. In 1870, his real estate value was $350. He was married to Elvira Elizabeth (PEREGOY)* before 1832.

27. Elvira Elizabeth (PEREGOY)* was born on 7 Apr 1807 in VIRGINIA/WEST VIRGINIA. She died on 16 Sep 1873 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV. Joel has passed on by the 1880 census. Eveline could not be found in Hedgesville on the 1880 Berkeley, WV census, although, William was there. Was Eveline deceased by then or just living with one of her children elsewhere?
On three different census', she had three different names: Evaline, Eloner, Elvira. Children were:

i. Elizabeth L PEREGOY was born about 1832 in VA.
ii. Anna J PEREGOY was born about 1833 in VA.
iii. Ruth G PEREGOY was born on 12 May 1834. She died on 21 Jan 1839 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV.
iv. Joel PEREGOY was born on 11 Jan 1836. He died on 18 Jan 1839 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV.
v. Harriett PEREGOY was born about 1837 in VA. She was a Dressmaker in 1870. She resided Hedgesville, Berkeley, WV with parents in 1870.
vi. Edwin PEREGOY was born on 29 Oct 1838 in VA. He died on 25 May 1863 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV.

viii. William B PEREGOY⁽¹²⁾ was born about 1844 in VIRGINIA/WEST VIRGINIA. He was a carpenter/joiner in 1870 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV. He resided Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV in 1880. He was a railroad bridge carpenter in 1880 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV.
ix. Mary PEREGOY was born about 1848 in VA. She was a Dressmaker in 1870 in Hedgesville, BERKELEY, WV.
