112. Peter ALLUMBAUGH* was born about 1740 in BADEN-BADEN, GERMANY (HOLLAND). He appeared on the census in 1800 in MADISON CO., KY. He appeared on the census in 1810 in MADISON CO., KY. He died on 12 Sep 1833 in MADISON CO., KY. Peter Allumbaugh (Olmbagh/Almbach) the 1st with his parents and 14 siblings took sail from the shores of Holland. During their voyage to America, cholera broke out on the ship and Peter's parents and siblings died. Peter landed in America alone at the age of 14. He enlisted in the War of the Revolution with Great Britain and served until the close of the war. He then married and settled in Virginia and had 11 children. The above is from the Allumbaugh Family History. Further research indicates that the Allumbach name is probably German rather than Dutch. (Allumbaugh Family History. Written by Donna Jean Allumbaugh, Box 176, Tonasket, WA 98855. 1981. pg 435.) He was married to Catherine GREEN* in 1769/70 in GREENBRIAR, KY.

113. Catherine GREEN* was born about 1750 in VA. She died on 4 Sep 1815 in MADISON CO., KY. She was buried on 7 Sep 1815 in Old Farm near Paint Lick Creek, MADISON, KY. Children were:

child i. John ALLUMBAUGH was born about 1770 in VA. He resided SULLIVAN, IN in 1833. He died on 3 Oct 1860 in SULLIVAN CO., IN. He was buried in HOUCK CEMETARY, SULLIVAN, SULLIVAN, IN. John Allumbaugh could not read or write so he "x"ed his name for his signature. His headstone in the Houck Cemetery in Sullivan, IN is in good condition. John had 24 children. They are not included on a family history sheet as the information is incomplete. Their names ane their lineage can be found on page 14 of the Allumbaugh Family History Book. Names: Henry 1800-1807; Willis 12 Nov 1807; William 9 Dec 1808; Garrett 1809; unknown son; unknown son; Starling 13 Sep 1813; unknown daughter; unknown son; Peter 1817; James 1818; Thomas 15 Mar 1820; Joe?; unknown daughter; unknown son; unknown son; unknown son; unknown son; Jane; Sarah 28 Sep 1828; John 1831; Samuel 14 Feb 1832; Escy 1832; Mary. John's first wife, Mary, died 16 Aug 1827, so I am assuming at least the last 6 children were the products of John's marriage to Polly.
child ii. Elizabeth "Betsy" ALLUMBAUGH was born about 1779 in VA. She resided Dist #46, LAFAYETTE, MO in 1850. She died between 1850 and 1860 in LAFAYETTE CO., MO. Elizabeth was living with her daughter, Margaret, and granddaughter, Nancy in 1850. The 1850 census also indicates that two other people were living in her household. Bethenia Barker, no age, and Marilyn Ashcraft, a farmer, of 23 years of age and born in Kentucky. (1850 Dist #46, Lafayette, MO census, page 222B)
child iii. Nancy ALLUMBAUGH was born about 1783.
child iv. Peter ALLUMBAUGH was born about 1783 in VA. He resided ESTILL, KY in 1809. He resided SULLIVAN, IN in 1833. He resided IOWA between 1840 and 1848. He resided BUCHANON, MO in 1848. He died about 1863 in HOLT CO., MO. He was a farmer. Peter had 15 children. Five of the boys grew to manhood. Peter moved to Estill Co., KY by 1809. When he sold out in 1833, he went to Sullivan Co, IN where his brother, John had already settled. He moved to Iowa between 1840 and 1848. From Iowa, he moved to Buchanon Co., MO in 1848.

child vii. Mary "Polly" ALLUMBAUGH was born about 1794 in VA. She died in 1870. Mary's first two children were fathered by an Indian. She disliked the father and kept her maiden name for the children, these children being James and Catherine.
