Mrs. Freda Hood Buried at Norden
Freda Doris Emry was born near Norden, Nebr., August 5, 1911 and passed away

Most of her life was spent in and around Norden with the exception of four
years in Mabton, Washington.

four children were born, Donald, Louise, Hubert and Cleo.
She was a member of the Rebecca lodge at Mabton, Washington.
In February, 1947, she was stricken with paralysis from which she never fully

there six months, but her health gradually failed and she returned to the home
of her parents near Long Pine. She was taken to the Ainsworth hospital March
27 where she passed away April 6th. She was a patient sufferer and many long
hours were spent reading her Bible in which she found solace and comfort in her
long illness.
She is survived by her husband Jesse Hood of Sunnyside, Washington, four children,

Robert Russell Emry(2)
(11)(12) was born on 8 Jan 1917
in Norden, Keyapaha Co., Nebraska. He died on 30 Aug 1996 in Vale, Malheur Co.,
Oregon.(13) Russell Emry died at home
under Hospice care. He had suffered a long illness due to congestive heart failure
which caused complications with his kidneys. He survived due to kidney dialysis
for the final 16 months. He was buried on 3 Sep 1996 in Valley View Cemetery,
Vale, Oregon.(14) Valley View Cemetery
is located a short distance North of Russell's last residence of 1175 15th Street,
Vale, Oregon. His cemetery plot is near the East perimeter of the cemetery and
overlooks the confluence of the Malheur Valley and another valley that runs toward
the North; the latter being the route of the Oregon Trail. Russell was very
interested in the early pioneers and the Oregon Trail and he also had contract
hay hauling business with many of the farmers in the Malheur Valley. This indeed
seems to be a very fitting spot for his final rest.
