ELEVENTH GENERATION

1098. John Turner (247) died before 6 Mar 1732. We will go back to the year 1694, in which John Turner was married to Elizabeth Woodier (or Woodyard) of Upper Providence, afterward of Chester township. A child named Mary was born to them toward the close of the year, but both child and mother died within two weeks after, and when George Woodier made his will in 1714 he merely gave to his son-in-law John Turner six shillings as a token of remembrance. In the latter year we find a John Turner, no doubt the same, accomplishing his marriage with Sarah Shakraff, or Shecroft, at Middletown meeting.
On the 30th of October, 1718 John Turner bought 208 acres of land in Middletown from Joshua Hastings, who was a purchaser of 1000 acres from Penn, of which 472 acres were taken up in Middletown, and on a part thereof the meeting house was built. John Turner sold one half of his land, or 134 acres to John Talbot, Nov. 22, 1718, and the latter "built a messuage and made a plantation thereto", soon after.
John Turner made a will, dated January 12th, 1730, as stated in later writings, but it is not to be found, and letters of administration were granted to Sarah Turner, his widow, March 6, 1732/3. He devised the land, 134 acres, to Benjamin Talbot, and his clothing to John Chapman, which is all that is known of the will. Joseph Talbot, as heir at law, gave a release to his brother Benjamin Talbot for the land, April 26, 1734 and Sarah Turner, the widow, also signed a release, April 2, 1737. He was married to Sarah Shakraff (Shecroft) in 1714 in Middletown Meeting, Pennsylvania.

1099. Sarah Shakraff (Shecroft) (247) died after 2 Apr 1737. Again, Sarah Turner, in her will, dated 1 mo 29, 1737, gave to the children of John Talbot, deceased, - Joseph, Benjamin, John, Elizabeth, Sarah and Hannah - one shilling each, and the same to John Chapman.
