521. Elizabeth Clark(91) (309)(310) (269) (311) was born before 1670.(312) Name Clark is questionable. Frederick J. Henderson gives her the name Elizabeth Simpson.

Doug Tucker states: "I think Elizabeth Simpson was a widow when she married Thomas Moorman (1658-1705). Whether her maiden name was Clark is pure conjecture. She definitely was not the daughter of Christopher Clark, who was born in 1681 and whose only wife was Penelope Johnson who he married about 1708. Some sources suggest that Elizabeth Clark Simpson might have been the daughter of Micajah Clark and Sally Ann Moorman, the parents of Christopher Clark. However, Micajah Clark and Sally Ann Moorman did not marry until 1680. Elizabeth Simpson and Thomas Moorman were married by 1684 and the birth of their oldest son, Charles, in 1684 is recorded in the Blissland Parish Register. The birth dates of Mary (1686) Thomas (1788) and Andrew (1789) are also registered in local parish registries. There is no question about birth order or even baptismal dates.

Quaker Yeoman (Stanley) shows Elizabeth to be daughter of a Christopher Clark and Sarah. It states Christoper's father was "Edward Clarke the ancient planter". Doug Tucker's comments follow: The "Christopher Clark, son of Edward Clark, ancient planter" connection is incorrect. That Edward Clark's descendants settled in Middlesex Co., VA and there is no known connection with the Clark's of New Kent Co. Early researchers were guilty of "stretching" in their search for a Virginia-based parent for the Christopher Clark who married Penelope Johnson."
