1102. Henry Gibbons
(159)(50) was on 27 May 1682
in Ashford (Nottinghamshire) Friends Meeting, England.
(50) Henry Gibbons and his daughter Hannah received a letter of removal
from the Ashford Friends meeting on 27 May 1682. His wife Helen and his daughter
Anna apparently came to America at a later date.
Sellers family tradition has been that Anna Gibbons and her father Henry Gibbons
made the Atlantic crossing aboard the Ship Welcome, on which William Penn traveled
to America. In his "The Welcome Claimants, Proved, Disproved, and Doubtful",
George E. McCracken discussed the matter, expressed substantial doubt, and concluded
that it is possible that the family tradition is correct. He died in 1702 in
Chester Co., Pennsylvania.(91) Henry
Gibbons will is recorded in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He named among his
heirs his daughter Mary, wife of Robert Scothorn.
