Etter

Frederick Henry Etter was born in Germany, October 1853. He came with his
family to America in 1868. they lived around Wassau, Wisconsin where they farmed.
Frederick Etter came to North Dakota in 1884 and settled on a farm east of
Wimbledon. He married Maria Luther in 1887. To this union were born three girls,
Louisa, Hattie (Of California) Laurie, deceased. There were also three boys,
herman, Adolph (deceased), and Fred Jr. who farmed the home place. Fred Etter
Sr farmed until 1912, when they moved to Wimbledon and started the electric
light plant for the town. He sold out to Ottertail in 1928. Then they moved
on a farm north of Wimbledon until 1946, when they retired and moved to Valley
City.

Frederick Etter passed away in 1948, and Mrs. Etter passed away in 1954.
Frederick Etter, Jr. married Anna carrol at Hannaford in 1917. They moved to
the home farm which Fred had taken over after his folks moved to town. To this
union were born three children, Mrs John Backer, who lives northwest of Courtenay,
Mrs. Raymond Nelson (MILDRED), who lives in Valley City, and Father Willis
who entered the priesthood sixteen years ago.
