James R. Eubank, a well known farmer and stock man of Silver Creektownship is a native of Kentucky, although he has spent most of hislife in Missouri, coming here with his parents when he was about tenyears old. Mr. Eubank was born in Clark County, Ky., Oct. 2, 1857 andis a son of Stephen B. and Lucy (Wright) Eubank, both natives ofKentucky. The Eubank family came to Missouri in 1867 and settled inBoone County and later removed to Howard County where the father diedin 1887. He was born June 24 1813. His wife was about 10 years hisjunior. She died in 1872, aged 52 years.
James R. Eubank was reared on a farm in Howard County and attended thedistrict school. In early life he began working for farmers in hishome locality by the day and his first work away from home wassplitting rails, for which he received 50 cents per hundred and heworked many a day for 50 cents. Out of the first money which he earnedhe paid 50 cents to join the Good Templars After working as a farmlaborer for a time, in Howard County, he rented land there until 1882.He then came to Randolph County and rented land south of Clifton Hilland operated rented land for some time in that vicinity and laterbought 80 acres which he operated for eight years. He then sold outand rented his present place for two years when he bought it. He ownsa valuable farm of 240 acres and in addition to general farming, heraises cattle quite extensively, specializing in Herefords He alsoraises Portland China hogs.
Mr. Eubank is a Democrat and a member of the Christian Church. He is amember of the Masonic and the Modern Woodmen of America.
Dec. 21, 1880, James R. Eubank was married to Miss Lucy M. White. Sheis a native of Howard County and a daughter of David W. and Bethann(Bush) White, natives of Kentucky and early settlers in Howard County.David White was a soldier in the Confederate army.

Alva M. Eubank enlisted in the United States army Sept. 7, 1917 andbecame a member of Company A. Machine Gun Battalion, 135th Division.He was on the front line of the trenches and experienced considerablehard fighting. Sept. 16. 1918, he began a course in a replacementschool in France and was commissioned second lieutenant and wasdischarged with that rank in March,. 1919 and arrived home April 10,1919.
