SEVENTH GENERATION

425. Lawson COMEY (1) was born on 27 Feb 1837 in Hopkinton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He died on 23 Jun 1863. He enlisted during the Civil War on 26 Aug 1862. On 24 September 1862 he mustered out with Company H, 42d Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. The regiment left on November 21st for Camp Banks, Long Island, New York. It was to participate in teh expedition for Louisiana. Compnay H left New York on 3 December aboard the transport Shetucket and arrived on 15 Jan 1863. They were employed during the first half of the year at Camp Parapet serving as engineers and constructing a redoubt at that place. In June a detachment of 100 men was sent to Brashear City on the Oelousas Railroad. Lawson was among these men. On 23 Jun the garrison at Brashear City was captured and with it forty-six men, including Lawson, were killed.

He was married to Ursula TAFT on 29 Aug 1862 in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Ursula TAFT(1) was born about 1840.
