428. James Knox Polk COMEY (1) was born on 20 Feb 1845 in Hopkinton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He died on 7 Dec 1884 in Milford, Worcester, Massachusetts due to Phthisia (asthma or tuberculosis of the lung). On 2 Apr 1862, at the age of 18, James enlisted to serve during the Civil War. He was mustered on 7 Apr 1862 with Company B, 25th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers with his brother Alphonso. In Apr 1862 the 25th became part of Armory's Brigade in Foster's Division. They did picket duty until June when it went back to Newbern and camped near Fort Totten. In July the division went on an expedition to Trenton, then in September on another to Plymouth and on the 30th of October on another to Tarboro. It engaged at Whitehall and Goldsboro with little loss. In December it went to Newport News, Virginia. After re-enlisting with his Brother Alphonso, they returned to Massachusetts on a veteran fulough. In March 1864 the regiment was entirely reunited at Portsmouth, Virginia and assigned to the Star Brigade. I proceeded to the Bermuda Hundred region and was engaged at Port Walthall Juntion. They fought at Arrowfield Church on May 9th he was wounded in the right forearm and transferred to Company A on 5 Oct 1864 and mustered out on 7 Aug 1865. James suffered from malarial attacks following the War.

He was married to Rhoby Sebrina QUIMBY on 26 Jun 1873 in Milford, Massachusetts. Rhoby Sebrina QUIMBY(1) was born on 10 May 1846 in Blackstone, Massachusetts. She died on 18 Jan 1888. James Knox Polk COMEY and Rhoby Sebrina QUIMBY had the following children:
