Captain John Ellis's Company in Colonel Thomas Poor's Regiment. From 14 Jul
1778 untill 18 Feb 1779. His unit was involved in fortifying passes of North
River. He was aslo stationed at Fort Clinton, New York. Oliver also was posted
to King's Ferry during November and December of 1778. He was in the Battle of
Princeton. A pension of $68.50 per annum was paid to Oliver from the Revolutionary
Claim Act of 7 Jun 1832. Oliver returned to Foxboro at the end of his service.
He was actively involved with the running of the local government. Oliver was
known in Foxboro as Captain Comey (this could mean he served in the Foxboro Militia
as a Captain). In 1782 Olicer was chosen as one of the Surveyors of Highways
for the Town of Foxboro. In 1793 he was chosen as a "Fence Viewer".
He was married to Elizabeth BELCHER
(daughter of Eleazer BELCHER and Elizabeth
MORSE) on 12 Dec 1786 in Foxboro, Norfolk, Massacchusetts.
Elizabeth BELCHER(1) was born
on 16 Jan 1768 in Foxboro, Norfolk, Massacchusetts. She died on 12 May 1851
in Foxboro, Norfolk, Massachusetts due to inflamation of lungs. Oliver COMEY
