404. Frederick Robbins COMEE

was born on
2 Jan 1854 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. He died on 16 Apr 1909 in
Brookline, Massachusetts due to typhoid fever. Federick attended Fitchburg high
School and Boston Latin School before going to Harvard Universiity. After graduation
he worked in the engineering department of the Fitchburg Railroad Company for
six years. He was electd as a member of the Scool Committee of Fitchburg in
1880. Frederick left Fitchburg in the autumn of 1881 for New Mexico and Arizona
working for four months with a mining company. After that he was employed by
the American Elictric Light Company and in the office of the Boston Bijou Theatre
Company. The Chickering Musical Bureau was origanized by him in 1884. He conducted
it until November 1886, leaving to become the Assistant Manager of the Boston
Symphony Orchestrs, which he held for twenty-three years. Besides these duties
he assumed the business management of a series of ten chamber concerts, under
the auspices of Harvard University, in Sanders Theater, during 1897-98. He
was married to Clara E. GALLOUPE (daughter of Fredereck D.
GALLUPE and Eunice A.) on 12 Dec 1894 in Boston, Suffolk,
Massachusetts. |
