2 Apr 1917 in Brunswick, Maine. A 1938 graduate of Tufts College. His career
highlights include Editorial Page Director, Portland, Maine at the Press Herald,
Evening Express, and Sunday Telegram. He wa the 1959 recipient of the Reid Foundation
Newspaper Fellowship for on-the-ground observation of Charles de Gaulle's France.
Edgar served in the military during WWII as Commanding Officer of a series of
minesweepers with the Naval service. He also served during the Korean War as
Commanding Officer, Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Training Center, Buffalo,
New York, and divers peacetime reserve flings. Edgar held several positions
with the U.S. Government amoung them were - Deputy Assistant for Public Affairs
to Secretary of the Treasury Henry H. Fowler; Chief, Public Affairs Division,
Agency for International Development, Department of State. He was married to
Margaret. Edgar Atherton COMEE
