The Albany Herald
November 07, 1966
Claude William Limbaugh, 65, and his wife, Mrs. Luna Casey Limbaugh, 68, of 322 N. Central St., were killed and several persons injured in a three car collision on Newton Road yesterday morning, County Police Lt. R.L. Carter reported.
The lawman said the injured included a 16 year-old girl, the driver of a 1966 sedan which ran headon into the Limbaugh car, who received lacerations of the right knee and a broken foot. He said two younger brothers of the girl were examined at Phoebe Putney Hospital for minor injuries and dismissed.
The lawman said a 1955 model station wagon, driven by Burnice Wright, negro, Rt. 2 Box 391 was traveling north on Newton Road, slowed for a left turn, and the 1966 model sedan, driven by the juvenile, whose name cannot be released under Georgia juvenile laws, swerved to avoid hitting the station wagon and crashed headon into the 1965 model car driven by Mr. Limbaugh.
Carter said the '65 model struck the rear fender of the station wagon causing an estimated $300 damage. He estimated damage to the Limbaugh car at $2,500 and damage to the car driven by the juvenile at $5,000. The lawman said the juvenile would be charged with failure to yield the right of way and Burnice Wright would be charged with driving without a license.
