Obituary Article dated October 17, 1932: A feeling of deep sadness was experienced by the citizens of Middlebourne Monday night when a telephone message was received here that Homer Bussy Jemison had passed away at 7:30 o'clock in the Clinic hospital in Cleveland, OH, where he had submitted to an operation about two weeks previous. He was reported to be much improved following the operation and it was thought here that he was on the road to recovery, and the first information of his sudden turn for the worse received here was when his family was notified of his serious condition by his physician and they were asked to hurry to his bedside. His wife and children left here at once that they might be with him.
Mr Jemison was a son of the late Newton and Mary Crumine Jemison long time residents of this part of Tyler county. His entire life had been spent in Middlebourne and he enjoyed a wide circle of friends here and in in Tyler county. For a number of years he has been a member of the firm of the Home Store Co., and one of the obliging clerks of the firm. By his courteous treatment of the firm's customers, he had continued to maintain old friends and add new ones. He was aged at the time of his death, 59 years, three months and 17 days.
He was married to Miss Jessie Ankrom, daughter of Mr and Mrs M. R. Ankrom, of Alma and to this union three children were born, Carl (Correction:Karl), Clarice (Correction: Clarys) and Billie (Correction: William), who with their mother survive. He is also survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs Asa D. Shore, Mrs Charles E. Riggle, Ernie W. and Clyde Jemison of Middlebourne, and Lawrence Jemison of Charleston, W. Va. A sister, Lydia Jemison, passed away in early childhood.
The deceased was an active member of the Middlebourne Methodist Episcopal church, having sustained a relationship with the church since early manhood. He will be sadly missed in the home, church circles, among his business associates and as a citizen of the community. He had a host of friends who will be shocked at his sudden passing. Funeral services were held today, Thursday, at 2 o'clock p. m. at the home here in Middlebourne, in charge of Rev G. J. Johnson, of the local Methodist church. Following the services burial was made in Greenwood cemetery near Middlebourne, in charge of T.J. Sellers, local funeral director.
