Sometime just before 1841 Mary road by horseback to Indiana to visit her children that had migrated to Indiana between 1833 and 1835. Mary was between the ages of 65 and 70 when she made the trip which was close to 300 miles long.

Mary's last name is in question. Her maiden name was reported in the Miami Co. Indiana History book at Rhett. There are no Rhett's found in PA in that time period. Rea is a prominent name in Pennsylvania. One interesting twist is that on the back of a picture of Mary's daughter Sarah is a hand written note that Sarah is related to the wife of President Benjamin Harrison. Both of the wives of Benjamin Harrison were of the surname Scott.
