bulletIsac Levi WEST was born in middle Tennessee. William West lived in California in early days and in 1849 when gold was discovered Levi went to the
gold fields and worked about two years in the gold fields and mined and made good money, but took
sick and had to return home ship around South America.
Such a long trip across the Golf of Mexico and up the Mississippi river, then up the Arkansas river to
Fort Smith, Arkansas where his wife (our grandmother) and her folks met him and took him home. He only had 1600. dollars left after the long expensive trip home. With the money left he bought their
farm in Washington County Arkansas.
Our family for generations back as far as Pa and Momma knew were honest and industeryous well respected people. no immorality or drunkness at all among them. They were a religous people.
Our great grandmother (Marrs) West was a dressmaker and did tailor work making nice suits for men.
One of Pa's (W.I.West) aunts was an artist; drawing and painting beautiful pictures.
