Hannah grew up un Mount Holly. Her descendents wrote about stories Hannah had told about her experiences in Mount Holly during the Revolutionary War when the British Soldiers stopped at their home on two different occasions. Her parents had been slave owners who treated their slaves well. One quote of Hannahs is perhaps a sign of her character. When a friend ordered that a slave be whipped for a minor offense Hannah said to the woman of the house where she was visiting,"I cannot stay and see one of God's creatures abuse. I am going home." In 1801 William, Hannah and their children moved from Mount Holly to Chillicothe, Ohio. They were residents in Chillicothe at the time of Williams death in 1818 and Hannah remained there a few years then later going to her daughters home in Columbus where she died.
