In 1845 they sold land the owned near Milton, Indiana on the Whitewater Canal to Francis Walker who was a blacksmith. This land was most likely inherited by Sarah from members of the Griffey Family. Jeri Fredin wrote that a Slave had been dropped off near the home of Joseph during the Civil War by mistake. Joseph took the responsibility of transporting the slave to the next "underground" depot.
