Orphy was 17 and Wallace was 12 years old. Orphy was lazy so he got in the skif (which in those days was made of 1" lumber and was heavy) and told Wallace to push it out in the (Bay or river) and it gave a lurch causing an old single barreled 12 gauge shot gun that Orphy had stood muzzel up in the bow of the skif to fall over and it discharged hiting Orphy in the back and neck leaving him partially parylized most of his life. He always blamed Wallace for shooting hm sayig he did it on purpose which was not true, non the less he proceded to live off his brother until @ 1920 when Wallace married Celia Smith." For many years Oprhy would pick bird shot out that had worked out to the surface of the skin, and he kept the old shot gun that shot him, the last time I (Lloyd Fenimore) it was like a rusty piece of pipe and no stalk. He was issued this SSAN 536-16-5214 before 1951 in Washington. He died on 20 Jan 1968 in Foley, Baldwin, Alabama. Services were held on 23 jan at the Higgins Brown-Service Chapel in Foley, Alabama with Rev. Joseph kelly officiating. Orpheus died in Alabama in 1968. Orpheus thought he was a ladies man and he made passes at some of the female members of the family. He was convinced by family members to depart the area at threat of loss of life and limb and he ended up in Alabama. He returned just before his brother Edwards death for a 91st birthday party in Edwards honor. This was just before Edwards death and close to a year of Orpheus death. Orpheus was a man of good looks.
