Alexander Lindores (son of James Lindores) was born March 17, 1903 in Belfast, North Ireland, and died February 12, 1961 in Glendale, California. He married Ida Wells on July 13, 1927 in Holy Trinity Rectory, Hamilton, Arecaster Township, Canada, daughter of George Wells and Flora Jane Askwith.

 Includes NotesNotes for Alexander Lindores:
At time of Alexander's birth his parents Mary Ellen (Morris) and James Lindores were living at 23 Morpeth Street. His father is listed as a rivetter.

Known as Pa to his kids and grandkids alike, he was the favourite of everyone around. He lived in the Shankill in Belfast, Ireland when he was growing up. He used to sing in a vaudville act with his brother. When he was a teenager, he was shot in the chest in a pitched battle between Catholics and Protestants.
After that he wanted nothing more to do with Ireland. He saved his money and as soon as he had enough money (it was cheaper to go to Canada), he emigrated to Canada through Halifax, Nova Scotia. He worked in a mental hospital in Brantford, Ontario, where he met Ida Wells his future wife. After they had moved ot Victoria BC where their children were born, it was always Alex's intentions to move to the states. He joined the Royal Arcanum Lodge and met various people there in hopes to getting a connection to get into the states. He did meet some man (dno't know name) who helped. They ended up moving down to Glendale, California where it was always first choice to go anyway.

bc: Ida put the $25.00 down on the house on Roy Road and issued an ultimatum to Alex, "we're moving with or without you" and the kids helped move all the household items down the road.

"My dad, Alex Lindores, worked on Curtis bomber sites, when he
first went to L.A. then the war ended and so did his job. so he
got another one, cooking at MONTE SANO hospital.in atwater.
then he started working for Mr. Whiteman, who was working out
in his garage on his machines. right in our neighborhood of
Atwater. He invented those cement laying machines.etc.He got
rich from his inventions of heavy duty machines. and he built
his new factory out in Pacoima, San Fernando Valley. His big
ranch house was on the top of a mountain, over looking his
plant and Whiteman's Air Park. We went out there for company
picnics, and we had the run of the house and pool for the day.
It was a beautiful place. YES, Dad went to school at
night and learned to be a machinist.while he was working for
Whiteman in his garage."

A smallish auburn haired man, he was always happy and singing and love working with his hands, such as making jewelry for his grandkids. One time, they thought they had gotten a "spring" popping up in the yard, but came to find out years later that it was a broken water pipe. Alexander liked to fish like crazy and ate fish morning, noon and night. He smoked cigars and even on the way to the hospital where he later passed on, he was smoking his cigar.

other from Aunt Mabel Tweedy: Dear Holly Thankyou for sending me the information about my grandmother. The Blackwood name is the connection to the statue outside the city hall. It's no use looking in Ireland for the Lindores. There were only two brothers who came across to here and there are only eight Lindores in the whole telephone directory. They are connections of your great grandfather's brother. Only
one is connected to our family. There is a grange in Scotland called Lindores. I have visited the area and I was told they once lived
in a large house by a lake. Well there is a large house by a lake but how true these stories are I'm not sure. I have heard they were a french Hugenot family who came to Scotland to escape persecution. Please do not send any money. I will try and get you some information when I am off work in the summer but I would not have the energy when I am working because of this thyroid condition. There is an awful lot of information on Carson's family name If you are interested. It can be spelt Tweedie or Tweedy and they came from the Tweed valley in Scotland. A friend of our's printed it out for us it is quite interesting because some of it is written in the old Scots language.
