John J. Grusaky (b. July 25, 1892, d. January 16, 1981)

John J. Grusaky (son of Gabriel Grusovsky and Mary Majdan) was born July 25, 1892 in Yonkers, Westchester County, NY, and died January 16, 1981 in East Orange, New Jersey 07018. He married (1) Maria Duval Vargas, daughter of Pablo Narciso Duval and Isabel Vargas.

Obituary - Gruaky - On Friday, January 16, 1981, John J. of East Orange, father of Ms. Lynn Grusaky and John Paul Grusaky, dear friend of Mrs. Cleo Barry. Services will be held Tuesday afternoon, June 20 at one o'clock from the Woody "Home for Services", 163 Oakwood Avenue, Orange, Interment Heavenly Rest Memorial Park. Visitation Monday 3-5 and 7-9pm.

I hate to tell you this and maybe you might decide not to tell your husband.
John Grusaky left his wife and four children. I told your husband that they
were divorced. According to his daughter who died last year, her father just
left. John's wife lived to be 100 years of age. By the time I found my
Grusovsky (Grusaky) family in Yonkers, John's wife was in a nursing home and
very senile.

According to another family member who just died in September, John and his
mother owned a lot of real estate in Yonkers. I was told that John was very
close to his mother. His mother died in 1949. I am assuming he left after
the death of his mother. I could be wrong, however, it makes sense since
your husband was born in 1951.

I will prepare a file and send all that I have. I would like to know where
and when John and Maria were married. I am curious to see if I can obtain
their marriage application. On the application John would have had to give
his parent's names and his place of birth. I am also wondering if they were
ever married! I am assuming John was catholic by faith since his family was.
He may have changed his religion after he left.

If you look on the social security listing it has John, his first wife
Elizabeth, Maria and one of his sons.

I love to do genealogy but at times the truth can hurt. I really don't want
to unset your husband but I know that if I was in his place I would want to
know. My mother was born out of wedlock and I was able to track down her
father. I know that he died two years ago and he had a son. This is a very
touchy subject with my mother. I guess if you look at all families there is
always some mystery in them.
