-----Nice hearing from you Holly. Some of the names are familiar on your side....Alexander....that being our great great great
grandfather on the Ferguson side....at least I think I am correct on that. Maybe Mike will write something about my Dad in relation with the Ferguson. His father, Elmer, was the oldest of the Children of Minnie Harvey Ferguson and ALex John or John ALex Ferguson.
My father did not have a happy childhood and the dysfuntion of his family has bascially had an effect on my Father all his life.
He was abandoned by his mother and his father, Elmer was too busy having his own "fun" to raise his 3 sons. Dad was sent from family to family . Elmers siblings took in the boys for short periods of time, but he and his brothers were in the grandparents home most of the time. Consequently, we did not have a close relationship with the Ferguson side of the family...although, my Dad did seem close to Bob
Ferguson....We always called him Uncle Bob and his Wife, Auntie Jean. That was years ago...have not seen them in a long long time.
They are the only memories I have of Fergusons. I think we only saw our grandfather, Elmer, 6 or seven times in my life. He was not someone who endeared himself to you.....I found him quite gruff and vulgar....certainly lacked any social graces. I wonder what
the other family members thought of him? He was quite the hustler in his younger days. As far as my Dad's mother, I only met her once when I was around 13 years old. She did not impress me one iota. Never saw her again. Well, that is just a brief report of my Dad and his family. My husband, Milt Montz, is from Louisana, the German Coast of West St. Charles Parish. Now he has a very interesting Background. We have records going back to the late 1700"s. His father was the last generation of the Montz's to be born on the family plantation. The entire estate was lost due to floods from the Miss. River and then on the tails of that catastrophe, the Great Depression . I love going back to the parish and looking up the records and "visiting " the grave sites. When you have something interesting, it makes it exciting to browse and research, eh? Well, talked here longer that I had intended......Oh. since Mike and I are using webtv, we are limited on what we can access. Marilyn is the one who has the computer. I can get copies of things from Milt's work....but just can't get some items. You have a good week....Michele 7.9.00
