Tom Ernest Cox (b. February 13, 1888, d. November 17, 1951)

Tom Ernest Cox was born February 13, 1888 in Pierce City, Lawrence County, Missouri, and died November 17, 1951 in Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. He married (1) Iva Leona Ferguson on August 27, 1920 in Creek County, Oklahoma, daughter of John Alexander Ferguson and Minnie Ann Harvey.

Tom enlisted in the US Army in Grove, OK in 1918. He served as a waggoneer in the 356 Infantry Division. His first marriage was to Iva Ferguson. He was a RR detective and worked from Detroit Mich. to Missouri and Oklahoma. He retired as a night watchman for Western Foods, Inc. of Hutchinson, KS, He died at home, 426 Urban Drive, Hutchinson and is buried next to his grandaughter, Sally Ann Cox, in Memorian Park Cemetery, Huchtinson, Kansas. Tom lived in Grove, Ok and worked as a farm hand just before joining the Army in 1918.
Tom held a Deputy Sheriff's commission while he was employed as a night watchman in Huchinson, Kansas. Tom was 53 years old when his first son, Billy was born. He had two other children after Billy, Kenneth and Lee Ann, who were twins born in 1943.

Tom travelled extensively abt 1920. Tom and Iva Ferguson lived in Rocky Comfort, MO for awhile and may have lived in Flint, Michigan.
