Holly:
I just replied to you on the genweb, however I am glad you have contacted me because I have two people for you to contact. Ronnie Glenn is from Samuel Walker, the son of Hampton. His e-mail is rlglenn602@hotmail.com. The other is Earl Dean France who does not have e-mail, but his address is: 307 Jennings Ln., Smithville, TN 37166. He is from the older Samuel Walker.
The children of the older Alexander Walker & wife Gilley, were Nancy, William H., Samuel L., Mahalah, Hampton M., Wiley C., John B., George W., & Willis. I am descended from the son William H., & his son Alexander L. Walker.
Samuel L. Walker's wife was Mary Elizabeth Nixon. If you will give me your address, I will send it to Earl along with copies of what you sent. He insists on knowing documentation to avoid any errors. He does not have e-mail, but lives in Smithville, TN where all these Walkers lived when coming from NC & SC.
Have you heard from Debbie yet? She is descended from Hampton & has been working very hard trying to go beyond the older Alexander. Reach her at idahorose02@aol.com. She is the one that found you! So far, we have only heard from descendants of Samuel, Hampton, & William.

DeKalb County is located in Middle Tennessee, one of the state's three "grand divisions."
DeKalb county was formed by acts of the Legislature passed on Dec. 2, 1837,
from portions of Smith, Warren, White and Cannon Counties.

DeKalb County was established in December 1837 by an act of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee. The County was formed from parts of Smith, Warren, White, and Cannon Counties. The county was named by the Legislature. It was named in honor of Johann DeKalb, who was born in Germany and served as a Major General during the American Revolution.

The Legislature also specified that the County seat should be named Smithville, in honor of Samuel Granville Smith. He had served as Mayor of Gainesboro, As a State Senator and was Tennessee's Secretary of State at the time of his death.

DeKalb County is located in the eastern part of middle Tennessee, about sixty miles southeast of Nashville. It consists of about 317 square miles and the population is about 14,000. The city of Smithville was placed about a mile southeast of the geographical center of the County. The first County Court met in March of 1838.

The First settler of DeKalb County was Adam Dale who was born in 1768 in Worchester County on the eastern shore of Maryland. The earliest town in DeKalb County was Liberty. It was founded in 1804 by Adam Dale and his Mill was the first business to be established.

The founder of Alexandria, DeKalb's second oldest town was Daniel Alexander, who named the town for himself. The only other incorporated town in the County is Dowelltown. It was not incoporated until 1949.

Dr. Arch Robinson, father of the late Dr. W. H. Robinson, of Liberty, was one of the early physicians. Following his death, his brother, Dr. William B. Robinson, located in the village. After the war Dr. Thomas Gold entered that field. Other physicians have been Drs. R. M. Mason, G. W. Martin, and S. C. Robinson. Dr. Samuel Walker was for some years practicing in that region.
