Some say that William and sister Cynthia were twins. They were recorded in separate age categories in the 1840 census with Cynthia older than William, but both were recorded as age 14 in 1850, again with Cynthia older than William.
1860 Wright Co., MO, census, p.60(938), P.O. Hartville, August 20, 1860:
enumerated with 379/375, Allbird and Mary GROGAN;
William E. GROGAN, 21 M, farmer, TN; Mary, 21 F, TN; Ambrose M., 6/12 M, MO. William and Mary cannot read or write (but it was said that William attended school in 1850).
1862 July 21, enlisted 8th MO Cavalry Regiment (see Regiment details in Note with Albert GROGAN), mustered in July 30, 1862, Springfield, MO.
Described in his service records as 5' 11" with hazel eyes, light hair, and dark complexion.
Died from illness during Civil War, buried National Cemetery, Little Rock, Pulaski Co, AR
