Francis Wilson Ferguson (b. January 25, 1875, d. date unknown)
Francis Wilson Ferguson (son of John L. Ferguson or Furgason) was born January 25, 1875 in Missouri, and died date unknown.
Notes for Francis Wilson Ferguson:
This may be Frank, the brother of John A. Ferguson:
1920 census, Creek County, Oklahoma;
E.D. 55, sheet 4, line 67
Furgeson, Frank, 46, born in Missouri
Wife, Lillie, 44, born in Kentucky
Daughter Florence, 12, born in Oklahoma
Daughter Flora Ellen, 11, born in Oklahoma.
This is interesting, because also in Creek County, Oklahoma, Iva Ferguson married Tom Cox August 27, 1920!
I tried to look at the actual census record, but the film I was viewing did not have the page they were on! I got this info from the 1920 OK soundex index.
Dad says Frank and his family moved out to Calif, around Lindsey, around 1930. They stayed for awhile, and Dad saw him a few times. Then they moved back to Oklahoma, and Dad never heard any more about them. Marilyn Meador June 3,2002

Does your dad remember where in Oklahoma? I remember when we used to drive back and forth across the country when I was a kid that one time we stopped in OK. I remember that a relative worked at some kind of cafe or something and she wore her her up in those spit curls with bobbypins. My parents won't be back for awhile to ask if my dad remembers who that might have been. h
June 13 No, he doesn't know where Frank was, except that he lived in or around Afton OK, and worked for the RR. Frank got John A a job working for the RR there, too. That is probably why my Dad and Skeez were born in Afton. I think Jess, Jr was too? Marilyn
Holly, here is info from the 1920 OK census, Creek County:
Creek Co - Tiger Township
Frank Furgeson 47 - B: MO Parents B in MO owned grocery store
Lillie Furgeson 44 - B;Ky Parents B in KY
Florence A 12 B: OK
Flora Ellen 11 B: OK
This census was taken 14 June 1920.
Dad said he thought that Grandpa Absher owned a grocery store! Maybe he was mixed up, and it was actually Frank Ferguson who owned the store. OR maybe Frank took it over from Mr. Absher?
Dad also said that Frank moved to California for awhile, but then went back to OK. I'm trying to find out more from Creek County. Marilyn
Let me try to clarify this, and tell you where I am looking in my research. Frank W Ferguson ("Furgeson" on the census) was the brother of John Alexander Ferguson. In 1880, we found the boys living with their father John L Ferguson in Wayne Co MO. In 1897, John A married Minnie Harvey in Wright Co MO. IN 1900, John and Minnie are in the census for Polk Co MO. This 1920 census record in Creek Co OK is for John's brother Frank and his family. By the way, Iva Ferguson married Tom Cox in Creek Co OK in 1920, also. So some of the family were there in 1920. My Dad was born in Ottawa Co OK in 1923.
We know from the 1880 census that the father of John A and Frank was John L Ferguson, born about 1849 in IL. While searching IL records for "Ferguson," I found a John L Ferguson in Madison Co IL who married Elizabeth Blakeman in 1831, and among their children is listed a JOHN born in 1849. I strongly suspect that this is our John L's family, but am looking for proof. If this is his family, there is wealth of interesting history on this line. I am waiting for a copy of the probate record of John L Ferguson of Madison Co IL who died in 1878. I sent to the IL State Depository of Archived Records for this. I am hoping it might show the son to be John L Ferguson and maybe have other information about him. I will keep you posted on what I find out.
Some of our family worked on the RR and look at the one with the jailer and his son being killed...I wonder how we can find out these names.
Richmond, MO (Ray County)
The Jesse James gang robbed the Hughes & Wasson Bank here of $4,000 in gold in May of 1866. They killed the mayor of Richmond, and the jailer and his son.
SOUTHWEST CITY, MO The Bill Doolin gang robbed the bank here on May 20, 1895. They killed the State auditor (McDonald County)
WINSTON, MO - The Jesse James gang robbed a Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific train near here on July 15, 1881. They killed the conductor, a passenger, and viciously beat several others. They got $600.
Lived in Afton, Oklahoma, area. Worked for the Frisco RR, and helped brother John get a job with the RR there, around 1920
John Alexander worked for the Frisco railroad for awhile in Missouri. His brother Frank lived in Afton, Oklahoma, and got John a job with the railroad there. Then went to Michigan and worked for General Motors. Thayl, Mildred, John, and Wilma went to Michigan with them. Later, all moved to California where Jess and Elmer already lived. In California, he worked for the Union Pacific railroad, as a night watchman at the yard in East L.A.
