Cyrus built most of the buildings on what is now referred to as the Hacker Place (Map #__) and the Cox Place in Grant Township, Cowley County, Kansas. He was also the primary builder of the Hicks Chapel Methodist Church located on Highway 6 in the same Township.

They moved to Arkansas City where Cyrus worked and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. After his retirement they moved to the Springdale (Shilo) Arkansas area where they raised strawberries.
