Genealogy of French family arriving at Wakeman, Ohio from Connecticut in 1817. Decended from the line including Thomas French and Majery Knights of England. Erastus, Silas and Joseph French were the first of the family to arrive at Wakeman. Other family names in the area include Shepard, Waugh, Beecher, Canfield, Beardslee, Shelton, Treat, Deming and Pierce. Wakeman is located in the Firelands of the Western Reserve.

    Leland (aka Tix), Lucie (Wiese), A.J. (Alvah Joseph), Dorothy (Granger)and Blanche French on the porch of their house. The house, now extensively changed, now is located as the 2nd house southeast of the Vermilion River Bridge east of Wakeman on State Route 303. The house, at the time of the photograph, sat where the 3rd house east is now located, but was moved sometime in the late 1940's or early 1950's.
