Theresa Gabel (daughter of Friedrich Gabel and Maria Scheppel)²⁴³ was born 17 Nov 1887 in St. Clair Co. Belleville, IL, and died 29 Oct 1965. She married Louis Bender on May 1905 in Edwardsville, Madison Co., Illinois²⁴³.

THERESA BENDER DIES AT AGE OF 77
Mrs. Theresa Bender, 77, of 324 Gilbert Street, Swansea, died at 2:40 p.m.
Friday at Herald Nursing Home following an illness of a month. She had been
a patient at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
A daughter of the late Fred and Mary Gabel, nee Schoepel, she was born in
Belleville on Nov. 17, 1888. She married Louis Bender at Edwardsville in
May, 1905. Mr. Bender, an iron molder, died in 1942.
Surviving are a son, Arthur Bender, 1720 Kinsella Avenue; a brother,
Herman Gabel, 1028 Caseyville Avenue; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Hoffmann, 320
Gilbert Street, Mathilda, wife of Henry Meyer, Vennedy Station, Ill., and
Katherine, wife of Edward Alt, St. Louis; a grandson, Wilmer Bender, R. R. 1,
O'Fallon and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister
and six brothers.
Mrs. Bender was a member of Divine Science Church.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday from the Pete Gaerdner
Funeral Home to Walnut Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Pansy Cantrell, pastor of
Divine Science Church, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home
after 7 p.m. Saturday.
