This is my ALT line:

John ALT b Unterlenningen GER 1849 came to US in 1877 aboard the SS
Switzerland. Landed in Philadelphia. Citizenship in St. Louis. Pretty sure he
was m in Germany however noone came with him. May have died. I have
info on his family. John died in 1922.
M to Josephine ALT (1859-1912) in St. Louis 15 May 1880.
CH: Albert C b 1881 d 1962 (this is the mystery in the family!) b in Chicago
Louisa F b 1882 d 1915; b Philadelphia d Pittsburg, PA*my gm

St. Louis d 27 Jan 1980 m Katherine Gabel 21 Aug 1920 St. Louis
(Sad story: Edward was terminally ill in hospital in January of
1980. I believe it was his heart. Katherine went to visit him with
her son and had a stroke or a heart attack and ended up in intensive care,
just down the hall from Edward. She died before he did and the family
didn't tell him.)
I have a letter describing this from his sister Ethel to my
Dad, but again, will have to find it.

John Alt owned furniture stores in St. Louis, appropriatly named ALT FURN
STORE.
from at least 1884.
When his sons grew up and dtrs married, some of them were actively employed
at same. John, Jr, Valentine Beckerle, Arthur Luippold and Edward Alt were all
officers of the co. Also Rudolph worked in the company. At their peak,
there were
three stores. They continued awhile after John Sr died, but don't think
they got
along well enough to make a success of the business. I'm collecting info
on this
family from time to time and would love to go to St. Louis and see the
family home
and where the store was. Heard so much about it.

1930 Census has Edward and Katherine living at 5301 Virgina Ave. with Wallace and Lucille, also two unknown people- John and Jacla Folk?

1900 Census lived at 1512 S. Broadway. as Child
