Ted Homer Garner (son of William Andrew Garner and Mary Viola Cox) was born November 19, 1908 in Rich Mountain. AR., and died September 15, 1950 in Near Suwon Korea, KIA. He married Catherine Marie Rugely on 1930 in San Antonio, TX., daughter of John Lamar Rugely and Mary Ann McCleary (Rugely).

Ted Garner was a scholar, Lawyer, and a soldier. He served in the Canadian RCTF, The Royal Canadian Tank Force, prior to the entry of the U.S in WWII, having resigned his commission in the U.S. Army in order to join the Canadians. After the U.S became involved in WWII, he left the RCTF and re-entered the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in Gen. George S. Patton's 2nd Armored Division. He served with distinction throughout the entire war in the ETO as a tank commander in Company E, 66th Armored Tank Regt., 2nd armored Division. After the war he returned to civilian life and resumed the practice of Law. Upon the outbreak of the Korean war he returned to the U.S. Army and served as a tank commander with the 72nd Tank Bn. 2nd Infantry Division until he was killed in action on September 15, 1950, during the Pusan Peremiter "break-out" Coincidentally, my unit went ashore at Inchon on the 16th of Sept. The day after my dad was KIA.
