He boarded a river boat with his parents and brothers and sisters and began his journey north on the Rhine River to the city of Rotterdam, Holland where he boarded the Robert and Alice. On 24 Sept. 1742 he arrived at the Port of Philadelphia. Simon Peter eventually settled in Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Simon Peter Gehris's will is on file in both the original German and in an English translation in the Berks County Courthouse in Reading, Pennsylvania.
